This position requires the granting of an Australian National Security clearance to the level of Secret. Applicants must be an Australian citizen only to be eligible for this security clearance. Australians with dual citizenship will not be cleared to work in DFAT missions if the secondary citizenship is that of the host county. Applicants unable to receive a clearance will not be employed.
Contract: This is a one year contract renewable on demonstrated performance.

GENERAL
The Australian Embassy in Rangoon (Yangon) is a medium sized diplomatic mission representing the Australian government in Burma (Myanmar.) It is staffed by employees of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Australian Federal Police, the Department of Immigration and Citizenship and AusAID.
The Office Manager works within the Australian Federal Police section of the Embassy.
The Office Manager’s direct supervisor is the Counsellor Police Liaison (Senior Liaison Officer) and he/she works closely with other Burmese Locally Engaged Staff (LES.)
The successful applicant will be responsible for arranging their own working visa for Burma however assistance/advice will be provided by the Embassy in Rangoon. The successful applicant will be responsible for their own travel, transport, accommodation and any ongoing costs associated with living and working in Burma. To that end, prospective applicants should familiarize themselves with living conditions and associated costs prior to submitting an application.
The successful applicant will enter into an initial 12 month contract of employment, renewable at the discretion of the Embassy and subject to a satisfactory performance report from the Employee’s supervisor. The contract currently provides for:
• 16 days per annum paid recreation leave
• 30 days per annum paid medical/sick leave

DUTY STATEMENT
The successful applicant will be required to provide a high level of support to the AFP Senior Liaison Officer as follows:
• General management of the AFP office, with the ability to prioritise and expedite matters under limited supervision or direction in the absence of the AFP Liaison Officer.
• Oversight, manage and report on AFP financial transactions and assist the AFP Liaison Officer with accounts payable, acquittals, budget forecasts and analysis;
• Liaise with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) at a high level regarding administrative, financial and logistical issues;
• Maintain an AFP asset register and assist annual stock takes;
• Implement and maintain AFP databases effectively;
• Manage manual classified filing systems.
• Assist the AFP Liaison Officer with official correspondence and data entry into official AFP databases; and
• Manage and coordinate projects and perform other administrative tasks as required.
SELECTION CRITERIA
ESSENTIAL:
1. Capacity to obtain and maintain a National Secret security clearance.
2. Capacity to work under minimal supervision and maintain confidentiality.
3. An understanding of the role and functions of the Australian Federal Police.
4. Demonstrated experience in managing resources, staff and projects.
5. Demonstrated ability to be flexible and prioritise workload, in order to meet deadlines, in a team environment where there may be competing priorities.
6. Demonstrated knowledge and experience of financial processes in a government organization.
7. High level of oral and written communication skills.
8. High standard of administrative, analytical and computer-based skills including a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
9. High level interpersonal skills and strong personal qualities including a demonstrated high standard of integrity.
DESIREABLE
1. Working knowledge of the AFP’s corporate IT systems including the Police Real-time On-line Management Information System (PROMIS.)
2. Working knowledge of the Australian Governments Financial Management Act (FMA.)
