Australian Federal Police
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) are the primary law enforcement agency of the Australian Government and has important responsibilities in the international, national and local spheres.
The AFP and Myanmar Police Force share a long history of cooperation in the fight against transnational and organised crime across the region. The AFP has been represented in Myanmar since 1999. Since February 2021the AFP has undertaken limited liaison with Myanmar law enforcement on transnational organised crime matters, to counter regional narcotics trafficking and other organised crime threats.
A Senior Liaison Officer based in Laos maintains oversight of AFP activities in Myanmar, and the AFP is represented in Myanmar by a Liaison Officer.
