Student visas are intended for persons aged 6 years or older wishing to undertake full-time study in a \'registered course\' or in units of a registered course (whether or not the course leads to the grant of an award) and secondary or tertiary school exchange students.

This visa allows people to study at an Australian education institution. Student visa holders may work up to 40 hours a fortnight to supplement their stay in Australia while they are studying.

What visa subclass should I apply for?

The choice of visa subclass depends on the education sector you will be studying in.

572                              Vocational education and training (Certificates I, II, III, IV and vocational diplomas)
573                              Higher education (University courses - bachelor, associate degree, graduate diplomas or masters by coursework)

575                              Non-award (foundation studies)
576                              Sponsored by DFAT or Australian Department of Defence

The requirements for Student visas depend on your Assessment Level. The assessment level will outline the visa requirements you need to meet before a visa can be granted. How to apply

Student visa applications are lodged and processed at the Australian Embassy, Yangon.

To lodge a paper application:

1. Download the Student visa Checklist. The checklist will help you prepare all the documents you need for the application.
2. Download and complete the correct form - Form 157A
3. Make sure you have the right Visa Application Charges
4. Read the information on where to lodge your application
5. Check the Processing time
